Nick Pearce
We are proud to welcome cook, recipe creator and author Nick Pearce AKA @Recipearce to the WÜSTHOF family.
Nick Pearce has been cooking with WÜSTHOF knives since he was eighteen. Long before Recipearce, there was a café and coffee roastery, then a run of venues from the Gold Coast to Casuarina - and a knife that kept up with all of it. So when Recipearce took on its first brand partnership, it was ours. Nick cooks close to the source, building approachable, family friendly meals around quality ingredients and wild game he has caught himself. It is cooking that asks a lot of a blade. For more than 200 years we have forged every WÜSTHOF knife in Solingen, Germany, with the precision and durability that turn a good knife into a lifetime companion. Explore the collection Nick relies on in his own kitchen.
"A good knife doesn't make you a better cook overnight. It makes evry single thing you do easier , and that's what changes how often you cook."

THE RANGE HE REACHES FOR
CLASSIC COLOUR
The same forged Solingen blade that has been in professional kitchens for two centuries, in a handle you actually chose. Nick's knife rack is in Sumac, one of seven Classic Colour finishes.
FORGED, NOT STAMPED
One piece of steel, precision-forged, with a full bolster and tang. It's why the balance sits in your hand rather than out at the tip.
SHARPENED TO 14° A SIDE
Our PEtec process, finished with a final polish by hand. Sharper out of the box, and it holds that edge far longer.
SEVEN COLOURS, ONE BLADE
Pink Himalayan Salt, Purple Yam, Tasty Sumac, Velvet Oyster, Coral Peach, Blue Velvet and Fresh Rosemary. The colour is personal. The engineering isn't.
Six knives, in his words. Not a set he was sent — the knife rack he built over years of service and now cooks his family's dinner with.
Chef's Knife 20cm
THE ONE HE REACHES FOR
“If I could only keep one, it's this. Eighty percent of what I cook goes through it.”
Santoku 17cm, Hollow Edge
FOR VOLUME PREP
“The dimples stop everything sticking to the blade. Slice a kilo of potatoes and you'll understand why.”
Utility Knife 16cm
EVERYDAY PRECISION
“Slim, sharp and easy to handle. Perfect for slicing onions, chopping herbs and prepping fruit and vegetables.”
Paring Knife 9cm
FOR THE DETAIL WORK
“Garlic, chillies, trimming. The knife the kids learn on, because it's short enough to control.”
Discover more about WÜSTHOF knives, from the Classic Colour collection and Nick Pearce's kitchen essentials to choosing the right knife for you. We've answered some of the most common questions to help you find your perfect fit.
Q1 — Which WÜSTHOF knives does Nick Pearce use?
Nick cooks with WÜSTHOF Classic Colour. His knife rack holds a 20cm Chef's Knife, a 17cm hollow-edge Santoku, a 23cm Double-Serrated Bread Knife, a 23cm Carving Knife, a serrated Utility Knife and a 9cm Paring Knife, kept sharp with a 23cm honing steel.
Q2 — What is WÜSTHOF Classic Colour?
Classic Colour is the WÜSTHOF Classic knife — precision-forged in Solingen, Germany — with a coloured synthetic handle. It comes in seven finishes: Pink Himalayan Salt, Purple Yam, Tasty Sumac, Velvet Oyster, Coral Peach, Blue Velvet and Fresh Rosemary. The blade and construction are identical across every colour.
Q3 — Are WÜSTHOF knives made in Germany?
Yes. Every WÜSTHOF knife is made in Solingen, Germany, where the family has been forging blades since 1814 — seven generations. Nothing is manufactured elsewhere.
Q4 — Which knife should I buy first?
A 20cm Chef's Knife. It handles roughly eighty percent of home cooking on its own. Add a bread knife and a paring knife after that, and you have a working kitchen. Blocks and sets come later, once you know what you actually reach for.
Q5 — Is a WÜSTHOF knife a good gift?
It's a gift someone uses daily for decades rather than twice. Classic Colour is the easiest place to start, because the colour makes it feel personal, and every WÜSTHOF carries a limited lifetime warranty.
Q6 — Where can I buy WÜSTHOF in Australia?
Directly at wusthof.com.au, and through specialty kitchenware retailers and department stores nationally. Free delivery applies on orders over $150.
